Slept nearly for a full 24 hours!

When I first got back here, I felt my memories faltering. Like I started forgetting a few things. Names and all that. I just wrote it all down, putting in little outlined notes here and there. Like the shit I was taught in English class.

So I'm just kinda transcribing from there.

I sat next to Enjolras. I had the window seat. I remember that much. The flight there was pretty damn dull. Enjolras spent most of his time talking to the big guy who wasn't a student. I later learned his name was Grantaire and the two are friends.

So we were close to Africa. I remember them announcing that we'd be landing shortly.

And then there was a lot of turbulence. Like, a LOT. I've flown before, and this wasn't the normal turbulence that you go through, like when the seatbelt sign goes on. This was teeth-rattling, plane-shaking sort of turbulence! There was a lot of people yelling and the stewardesses were trying to keep everyone calm. The air bags came down from the ceiling.

Even just writing all of this down makes me feel the same sort of panic I felt when it was all happening. We were all scared.

Except Enjolras. He told me to undo my seatbelt when it was time. He was calm. I'll never forget that. It was just...it struck me as really messed up, because here was everyone practically wetting themselves and he was handling it like he'd gone through plane crashes every day.

He must've known he wasn't going to die. It's easier to look back on him and Grantaire in retrospect now, considering all that happened. How much did those two seen? How much did they understand?

There's no good way to put this.

The plane cracked like an oyster shell. It was just suddenly torn right in two! And it tore right in front of our seats! The first part of the plane went north. We ended up falling backwards.

We hit the water and Enjolras immediately undid his seat belt. The rest of us followed suit with Grantaire helping. There's not much I remember about it. Just a lot of water, grabbing for our carry ons, and then making our way to shore which wasn't too far from where we crashed.

There were ten of us who made it. We never learned what happened to the front of the plane. Now that I'm back, I've learned that they all didn't make it. We were hoping they had been rescued or something, but I think we all knew deep down that they were gone.

We weren't really the lucky ones in it all either. I don't know if I would've preferred a quick death via plane crash or what happened after.

First of all, wow. I didn't think anyone would ever find me here. I intended to try and keep myself to myself, but I'm kinda glad you did find me.

I know this isn't really a private message back to you, but I wanted to get this out in the open so anyone else could see it and glean any information from it.

The day I got back, I did three things.

1) Wrote it all down.

2) Talked to my parents.

3) Tried to find the others on the plane who went down with me.

You're probably not going to believe this, and I'm skipping right to the end of my misadventure here, but I died. I remember dying. I got shot through with several spears. I remember not wanting to die, I remember blacking out. I remember Enjolras and Grantaire with me. We were running away from something. Likely natives. And Grantaire had crashed to the ground, but he hadn't been speared. Enjolras, I remember him turning and heading back to us and nothing else after.

I know I died. I felt myself die. It was a horrible experience and I hope to never go through that again. But I ended up waking back here in my room.

Like I said in another post, there had been others who were with us. Throughout the course of this month, they were all killed. In really weird, messed up ways. So I thought, if I ended up back here, maybe they did too!

I checked around to the other students who I know had been in the tail end.

Know what I found? Nothing. They were still missing, still presumed dead. Apparently I was the only one who ended up back here.

How the hell does that happen? I'm not special. I'd be the first one to tell you that. There were others who had more ambition, more drive, more everything on that plane. I don't know why I ended up back alive here.

I'm kinda surprised that Enjolras and Grantaire HAVE friends. I don't mean that in an offensive way, of course. They were..they were really good to me. Still have the flannel shirt that Enjolras gave me to wear because the nights were horribly cold, and it was Grantaire who tried to save my life right before I died. But they always seemed alone, and the other students either didn't like them (pissing contests) or feared them.

As for where we crashed, there were lots of speculations. Personally, I figured we ended up somewhere more centralized, but we were also told to follow a river after hiking for several days. It was a huge river, and there are only three really big rivers in Africa. I'm guessing it was the Niger.

But because I don't know too much about the location, and because I'm sure the police will have a lot of questions that they'll hate the answers to, I can't really go to them.

Where to begin with this one?

We reached the shore. Our teacher had a few of us explore and a few of us stay behind to set up a bonfire. I went with Enjolras and Grantaire to explore a little. See if we could find any people.

We came across this campground thing. It was really small. Like a set-up that you'd see in the mountains. Remains of a campfire, a pile of rocks, and a large walnut looking thing was all that was there. Enjolras poked apart the pile of rocks.

Inside was a human eyeball.

He said we should leave. At that point, no one was arguing. So we get back to the beach, and another student brought back that large walnut shell thing. It was, like, three feet tall. And he ended up opening it.

I'm trying to be as matter of fact about this as possible because it's just so goddamn WEIRD. But a pillar of smoke came out of that shell! It just stretched up to the sky and suddenly, all I could think about was my junior high school prom and how my date ditched me to be with someone else and a jock used that time to spread a rumor that I was gay. And suddenly I was back to feeling alone, like I had no one else in the world. No friends, no family, nothing.

And then the smoke thing literally picked up the guy who had opened up the shell. Just YANKED him into the air!

And then decapitated him.

I'll never forget that sound. You could hear the pop over all the screaming!

The smoke trail left for the woods and then came back only to tear another student in half!

No one knew what to do. The teacher wanted us to all run into the woods or scatter or something!

Then Enjolras grabbed ahold of one of the shell pieces. I remember this because he ran right past me in the opposite direction of everyone else. I had no idea what he was doing, so I had to turn and watch and yell at him to not run that way.

He sliced down his arm and bled into the shell.

I don't even know why he did that. I do know that he liked reading myths and legends on Africa since he allowed me to borrow his book before the flight. Maybe he read something about it in there. But the smoke monster thing must've wanted his blood because it came right for him. And there I stood, just waiting to hear the snapping of his bones and knowing I was too cowardly to do anything about it.

But as soon as the smoke monster touched the shell, the other half of the shell flew upwards and the giant walnut thing sealed itself!

We buried the two bodies. Enjolras and Grantaire buried the shell.

After that, I think we all ended up divided. Some were annoyed, I guess, that Enjolras knew what to do. As though he allowed those two guys to die or something. But honestly, I think they were just afraid.
